The Forever Light bulb!

LEDs or Light Emitting Diodes for home use will hit American stores by this yearend. You will ask; what are LEDs and how does that news concern me here in Nigeria? I am sure you will get more interested if I tell you that 1 LED bulb has a life span of about 50,000 hours (over 11 years burning for 12 hours a day). They use as little as one-tenth the energy of the current light bulbs popular in Nigeria.

The real butter of the news is that these bulbs are heaven made for the solar electricity systems. They have been around in a variety of uses from car signal lights to cell phones, TV backlights and we adapt them in our solar installations and products for home use in rural areas. Following its official home use debut in America, I predict that its popularity will soar, more companies will make them specifically for home use and the price will come down to our level, you know.

Although not yet official, prices are expected to be $6 to $8 (790-1000 Naira) for 45-, 50-, and 75-watt equivalents.
